Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Great Question!! To make sure your Koastal Paddleboard Yoga experience is as comfortable and fun as possible we recommend you wear ABC--Anything But Cotton! Why? Because wet cotton is no fun. Instead wear clothing that dries easily and is easy to move in—you know, swimwear or athletic wear. Hats are usually a good idea too. NO denim shorts or leather shoes.

I've not yet tried paddleboarding... can I still come?

Yes please do! All classes start with what we call SUP 101; we provide you instruction about the parts of the stand-up paddleboard and the paddle and how to feel at ease using them before we get on the water. Koastal's motto is “Wicked fun for everyone” and fun starts with safety.

How will I do yoga and not float away?

Your instructor will carry out and set up an anchor system once the class has paddled to the spot where the yoga class will take place. They will help you connect to the system using equipment already on the board. Once everyone is attached all the boards will float in the same direction due to the current. When class is over, you will just disconnect from the anchor system and paddle back to the dock. This is the beauty of our floating yoga studio!

What are the age limits?

Koastal Paddleboard Yoga very much believes you are never too old to join us! However, children under age 13 are not allowed for safety reasons. Children ages 13-18 may attend with a parent or guardian that is also taking the class. If you have younger children and you'd like to do stand-up paddleboard yoga with them please let us know and we can book you in one of our private lessons.

Will see Dolphins on the Ecotours?

Koastal Paddleboard Yoga does our best to direct the tours to the areas where the dolphins are likely to be on any given day but we cannot guarantee they will be present during any specific tour. We are also likely to see manatees and sea turtles but similarly, we cannot guarantee that will be the case. However, oysters, sea birds and jumping fish called mullet are usually present when  we head out.

What should I bring?

Be sure to bring water in a reusable bottle, reef safe sunblock, bug spray, shoes that can get wet, and a towel. Your instructor will have a dry bag to keep your keys and phone dry during the class. Your shoes will be stored in the straps at the front of the paddleboard so they will likely get wet as you paddle.

It is highly unlikely that you will fall in during your lesson because our wicked awesome BOGA YOGA paddleboards are wider and thicker than an average all around shaped paddleboard. However, it is never a bad idea to bring a towel and a change of clothes as 1.) you may want to slip into the water to cool off, 2.) you may be headed out and about after class, or 3.) you may choose to try an advanced posture and get wet.

I'm new to yoga... can I still come?

Yes please join us as we have classes for yogis of all levels. Our instructors were all once beginners too and we pride ourselves on making you feel relaxed, comfortable, and welcome.

Where are you located?

Koastal Paddleboard Yoga is based in St Augustine, FL, where you can find our regular classes. Since our classes are completely weather dependent, we cannot always predict class location ahead of time but one of our favorite spots is the St Augustine Lighthouse Boat Ramp. You can use 446 Ocean Vista Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32080 in your GPS to find the location. It is located across from the Anastasia Island Lighthouse. Please note the Ashby Landing address on this website is our administrative office only; classes are not offered from that location.

What if I'm Running Late?

We understand that unexpected events can happen the morning of that 7am class you booked, so please text the instructor as soon as possible to let them know you will be late. We wait for you up to 10 minutes as we will be conducting SUP 101 on the dock. If you do not alert the instructor you will be more than 10 minutes late and/or arrive after we have finished the instructional part of the class, you will not be allowed to participate in that class. We will gladly hold the cost toward another class of equal value.

All classes are nonrefundable after 24 hours prior to class start time. If for any reason you are unable to make a class you paid for, please text the instructor as soon as possible. We will gladly hold the cost toward another class of equal value.

Class cancelation due to weather is refundable and will be announced no later than 1 hour prior to start time.
